We need a whole management team including a decent coach, otherwise we’ll probably still be f*cked no matter who comes in as manager.
It’s been mentioned on here before but it’s really, really gone tits up since Hunter left & all the reports you read cite our inability to do even the most basic things right.
If players consistently make the wrong decisions or are not in the right place to allow them to play the right ball or make space or whatever, they’re always going to struggle. Instilling the thought processes & tactical awareness & all that is the product of decent coaching. Doubly important if there are significant weaknesses in a team.
Players with loads of experience like Hartson & Dion (allied to a bit of intelligence too) stand out in this team because by & large, they make better decisions, despite the shambles going on around them (well, ok, Hartson stands out because he’s the same shape as Bobby Charlton in the Carling pub team advert, only taller & not as quick). Martin, Shackell, Otsemobor, Spillane, Jarvis are all probably playing in the way they’ve been "coached" & are all markedly worse this season than before- Martin for sure, but I’d say Shackell too (who generally plays better when he’s got Dion next to him in defence – as does Otsemobor).
So I hope the board have asked the new bod who he intends to bring in as coach & also that they get them in without any more t**tting about. And sack Donkcaster while they’re at it.
