Does anyone think that the delay might be because

the post has been offered, we have set a deadline at which point the position will be offered to someone else. I suspect that they have interviewed everyone that they will be considering and that we are all just playing the waiting game now.

Steve Bruce waiting to speak with Yeung or Paul Jewell waiting for a better offer?
