'During the hearing, his lawyer Gary Bromelow told Judge Cooper he had doubts over the accuracy of the device used by the police when his client was stopped.

'He said: "We maintain there was no positive roadside breath test," adding it took four attempts to get a proper reading. This, he said, raised serious doubts as to whether the machine was working properly at the time of arrest.'

If we were cruel, Mediawatch would suggest the breathalyser was faulty because Brazil broke it with an off-the-scale reading, but luckily we aren't so heartless.
