He's saying, if you want him to spiel out s**t like a politician avoiding answering questions, then he can be that, but instead he knows the situation, and he has to lift the players and get them ready for a game

Quite simple really, his point is also fairly valid as you've picked out a quote of his to indicate he's clueless and mental, yet is fairly apt when you think about it
