I don't think it's a tipping point. It's a gradual thing.

for example - record companies now sign fewer bands, and pay smaller sums to the bands they do sign. Because releasing records is now much less profitable, given illegal downloads.

So there's already probably bands who haven't been signed and so haven't made records and we've never heard of, because of illegal downloads.

Point is you never know it's happened because it er doesn't happen. If you see what I mean.
