it was indeed an SR-71 blackbird

both engines stalled and had to be restarted mid air. (not uncommon with the blackbird) They wack a whole s**t load of fuel through the jet and start it. It fires two fecking huge orange/white flames out the back and starts again with an enormous bang. It happened over the crowd at the Mildenhall air show once as well. There were also ocasions when they didn't start and the pilots had to bail. The highest (unofficial because it never actually happened) parachute jump survived was from a Blackbird at something crazy like 70,000ft.

The guy who lived next door to me back then worked on them a Lakenheath. Even though of course there was none of them at Lakenheath because they didn't exsist.
