Bang on

Far too often you can turn on ITV and watch "celebrities" singing other peoples' songs, or people trying out for parts in West End shows.

And then switch to BBC and see EXACTLY THE SAME THING OFTEN AT THE SAME TIME!

Surely the whole point of the licence fee is that the BBC does not or should not interfere in commercial markets. Let ITV and CH5 scrap it out for X-factor type shows, tax-funded telly should not be getting in their way.

The licence fee should be used to create programmes that would otherwise be uneconomic: either "quality" or "specialist", however you cut it. /rant
