....what is the point of having a left-back (Nicky Shorey) in the squad, if, when your first choice left-back gets injured, you draft in a centre-back, who's never played a full game for England, to play out of position?

I can only assume he's just completely forgotten about Shorey. If anyone's got his email address, you should drop him a line and remind him.
