Tell them that if you were going to accept a buy it now price then

you would have put one on the auction.

If it's something that they would need to collect then it's not a big deal to end it early, I personally wouldn't though. eBay and Paypal's protection plans are often false security anyway, although they are much better than nothing. Paypal isn't nearly as secure as most people think fwiw
