I know they do great work for veterans and their dependants however....
Not the fault of the RBL (I hope) but I do know that a number of ex servicemen & women use the services of the RBL & their lawyers to claim compensation for injuries "inflicted" during their time in service. Indeed, I was advised to seek recompense through them for my f**ked lower back. Thing is that:
a. I alone am responsible for knacking my back (playing rugby) so I don't feel the state should pay for it (I would get a War pension)
and
b. There are folk with genuine injuries inflicted in combat that are getting severley f**ked over when it comes to compensation. e.g. a lad in the Para's got around 150k for severe brain damage/spinal injuries and the loss of both legs recently which is a bit less than the RAF clerk who got 440k for RSI.
