I went on Sat for the 1st time this year. A few impresisons.
1. I thought in the first half we played some attractive football (much much better to watch than anything under NW) and that altho we clearly lacked something in the final third, we could easily have scored a couple which would have changed everything.
2. Big problem is formation, which i think resolves into big problem is Hucks - Brown ended up in midfield (on instructions?) and JC alone up front, and I think this is to compensate for DH being no use defensively or ball winning. If DH is not at his brilliant best (and on Sat he certainly was not) we are left with nothing up front, a centre forward in midfield and DH doing pretty much SFA. I think we need (and shd stick with and stop fiddling about) 442, with a proper midfield (Russell, spillane, Lapin, Croft ++ Smith/Brellier/Fozzy) and then 2 proper forwards, from JC, DS, DH and CB).
3. I thought the defence was OK, esp Doc who had a good game.
4. Crucially the team is lacking confidence - I thought those people who booed and sang what a load etc etc ought to be ashamed of themselves - save it for after the match by all means, but once it started the team collapsed. How does it help people like Jarvis trying to establish himslef. If i was a player i would be seriously pissed off. They even booed when we kept possession but went backwards - do you want a return to hoofball. Ignorant and deeply unhelpful.
