so when you wrote "our wage bill, which is slightly below average for our division" you actually meant "playing-staff wage bill"?
And you actually were talking about a percentage ratio rather than a numerical figure?
Players who are paid £ 7 million are expected, in my book, to out-perform those who are paid £ 3 million. Whether this figure is 50 per cent of an overall budget or 75 per cent makes no odds - the better-paid players *should* be more capable than the lesser ones.
And the long-term debt, painful as it is, can be met even if Carrow Rud gates sink to 8,000. A comparable scenario would be if you earned £ 10k per year and your mortgage repayment was £130 per month - it's hardly onerous.
Spending 1.2 mill on a road may be seen as frivilous, but would you prefer to see all that land sitting un-utilised? Buying the disused flour-mill is no longer seen as a wholly negative move, I suspect the latest moves will one be seen the same way.
