LOL! To be fair, I probably set Hughes a very low standard in this regard

ie. Charge forward in a storming, though utterly clueless fashion = "got forward pretty effectively". I think my view of him was clouded enormously by his performance at Chelsea: dammit, he did really well, against precisely the sort of opponents who'd have been expected to make him look a total idiot.
