is that our academy isn't producing players that we can subsequently sell for big money. In my 35 years as a City fan we have ALWAYS relied on selling players for profit to survive financially. The only reason Southampton (relegated at the same time as us) appear to have more money (eg they can afford Safri's wage demands) is that they have generated cash from Walcott and Bale is recent years.
Frankly, in the absence of quality young players to sell we can expect financial struggle. And that isn't a new situation.
