I am sure he assumed Safri and Etuhu would be playing before the current season started.

he rushed in jimmy smith who was injured almost straight away.

I dont think 100% of the blame can be on PG.

Ironically I do think he is way off base when he says
the central defenders are OK.
He really has had lots of time to bring in a quality central defender. Yet has not even been close.
