if we do manage to scrape a 1-0 loss (or maybe even a 2-0 loss)

they players may gain confidence from it

a 6-0 or 7-1 drubbing isn't just going to humiliate them but will destroy any slight semblence of confidence they might still have

though then again play for a non-humiliating loss and then get humiliated would surely be worse than giving free-reign and humiliation...
