It won't be until after christmas that Grant's squad is really bedded in, by which time it will be far too late.

Easy to say with hindsight, but he should have concentrated his resources in two or three key areas and then made changes at christmas. Of course earnie and etuhu forced his hand a little, but why he could have just signed the following in the summer:

Marshall
Otsemebor
Brellier
Cureton

and kept the rest of the cash until they had settled in.

then, even if we had lost the games we've lost this season, he could say 'this is just phase one, there's more players to come', thus at least buying himself a bit of time.
