Himmers, I think you know that I am of sound mind and reason, and unlikely to over-react or go for the knee-jerk reaction.
You strive to put up a sensible and coherent argument, and your sentiments are to be applauded. I don't think any City fan would disagree with you, IF things were quite that simplistic. If this were purely down to a 'blip' in results against two of the teams expected to be there or thereabouts, then I would whole-heartedly back your sentiments.
However, yesterday's performance was totally and utterly unacceptable on so many different levels. I do believe that if you'd sat through that turgid s**te yesterday afternoon like myself and Nasie Junior did, then your argument may be slightly more sympathetic or understanding to the so-called over-reactors.
Lacklustre it wasn't. Under-performing it wasn't. An off-day it wasn't. Too many players wearing the red shirt yesterday quite clearly weren't/couldn't be bothered. That was as plain as the nose on my face.
One shot all game (81st minute and skews out for a throw) doesn't even begin to tell the story. Last minute corner doesn't even begin to tell the story. We were off the pace in every single departement... second to the ball every single time. Eight players across the back and two up front.
The tactics? Ambling hoofball v quick neat incisive passing. The Gold Scum never stopped running and chasing and tackling and moving and passing. Everything we never even attempted to do from minute one, to minute 90.
Something is terribly wrong somehow. Is it the manager? Is it the players? Is it the board? Is it the supporters? I have an idea, but I certainly don't have the answers.
The sentiments you express, as I say are commendable, but unfortunately there IS a bigger picture that you're not taking into account. That's the one you're running into with those who will have witnessed yesterday and/or Tuesday.
I don't mind us losing if we give a decent account of ourselves, put up some semblence of a fight. What I won't accept is paying £38 plus petrol to go and watch my team not perform at all. And I think you'll find that's where the grievence lies with so many others on here.
OTBC.
