The "Time To Gel" Fallacy

Sorry to the Carrow Road spin doctors, but don't buy it...

Man City, new manager and coaching staff, awful season last time out, couldn't score goals, dreadful run of games at home...

This time out, eight players in, nearly the same amount in, many who haven't even played in the Prem before-and they're currently in the top 4, scoring goals and getting rsults, unlucky not to win yesterday, which would have out them second...

...and even if you don't have any £££!!

Leeds United, in dissarray, started the season on -15 points, yet now their total is just one less than us! No money, yet a load of new players in, seven straight wins.

Both those teams don't seem to have needed "time to gel"-in the latter case, you have to say, the quality of our new players must be superior to theirs-although I wouldn't have said no to us getting David Prutton, who is a decent midfielder.

So what is it?

Good coaching?
Players knowing what they are doing & what is expected of them?
Confidence in themselves and their Manager?

They are clubs at opposite ends of the football spectrum and they have not needed "time to gel"-which is sounding, more and more, like an old and tired excuse to me.
