Reality Check (Warning. Long rambling post)

We lost away to Charlton who will in all likelihood gain automatic promotion with their £30m parachute payment etc etc.

We are sadly still mired in debt and are unable to compete on a financial basis with teams like Charlton.

This is the root of the problem.

I think Grant has brought well and hope this will be proven right in time although admittedly some of his pronouncements/selections/tactics (or lack of) are bizarre to say the least. He also realises we need to strengthen at CB but is finding it difficult to get anyone in. I still think he will do us OK.

I was lucky enough to start going to Carrow Road in the early 80's and we spent most of the next ten years or so in the top division, won the Milk Cup, got to 2 FA Cup Semi finals, came 3rd in the Prem and won away at Bayern Munich. That was very much the norm in those days and I didn’t give a second thought to things changing very much. But they did. Unfortunately we were relegated from the Prem just when the big money kicked in and have never recovered from it. Cheers Mr R Chase.

I am now resigned to the fact that we will be for the foreseeable future a middle of the road Championship club aspiring to reach the Prem. We wasted the opportunity to stay up & the cash injection from promotion/parachute payments from our recent season in the sunshine. Cheers board & Worthy.

Until we get back to “the promised land” the financial gap will grow and grow making it more difficult for us to compete and gain promotion.

This is a depressing thought but being a Norwich supporter this is my lot at the current moment.

We need to either get promoted quickly, unlikely I would suggest, or get some serious investment from somewhere, again unlikely I would suggest.

Until then this is where we are.

So lets all get used to it and learn to love it in a masochistic kind of way.

“It’s the hope which kills you.” is the current phrase de jour.

Well, I have run out of hope. Come on in the waters lovely.

But………

On a positive note, Scum are much worse off than we are and they smell!
