What a depressing thought

Last January I wrote a VERY VERY large cheque for income tax and I wrote to Gordon Brown saying "Dear Mr Brown, It took me a lot of time and effort to earn this, please don't waste it. In particular, please don't piss it away buying a new nuclear deterrent which we will never ever use and which we aren't allowed to use anyway unless the Yanks let us. Thanks very much, Old Git"

I got a lovely reply telling me how much he valued my message of support, which made me feel all warm and squidgy inside.
