a hilarious Canadian series that many Stateside viewers didn't take to (didn't get the joke?) and was brought back for a third series with BBC money?
The West Wing was a huge hit in the States and was buried in late and erratic scheduling over here by C4 which got worse after they launched their digital channels. It was a great series but having the DVDs, I've watched it enough times to realise that quite a lot of the smart dialogue is gibberish and the plot is full of holes. I'm seeing the same things in Studio 60 now and the smug showbiz side of it is starting to grate. I liked Sorkin's first series, Sportsnight, set in a cable sports channel and in a much shorter episode format and much tighter as a result.
All better than Commander in Chief which did die after one series and is full of familiar plot lines and twists, almost scene for scene reproductions of the West Wing episodes.
