Liverpool were short on class. In the end that's why they trail in 20 points behind Manyoo / Chelsea every year.

And he's right to highlight Pennant in particular - looked bright, quick, had that that left-back in trouble - and yet he either doesn't look up before he delivers the ball, or if he does look then he obviously can't put it where he wants. Therefore (and re the post about Kuyt below) he makes his strikers looks worse than they are because he never picks out the runs they make.

Not to say he's their worst player, but he's a decent enough marker of the gap in class between them and the better European teams.

Do hope the scousers / sky 5live etc aren't going to bleat about last night for too long, because they don't really have anything to bleat about.
