You are very keen for the younger players to get their chance, I don't think you need to worry too much David, unless this mystery investor comes along, circumstances will dictate that they WILL get their chances next season!
Meaning, come mid-late October 2007, we'll be seeing the following photos!
"Me and Andrew Cave-Brown, he signed my shirt"
"Me and Michael Spillane at Colney"
"Chris Martin and me talking about Hong Kong"
"Andy Cave Brown and me again" ...etc etc etc!!!
But, joking apart, one of the positive things about having Dion around is what he can offer the younger players-not just guidance on the pitch, but off it as well. He's not on the managerial/coaching staff, so they might feel a bit more confident in talking to him and approaching him, likewise, he's a footballer who has played at the highest level, and for the bigger teams, thats what they all, hopefully, are aspiring to as well, another reason for them to want to learn from and be around someone like Dion.
The cream of our crop aren't likely to be sitting at the feet of players like the Doc or Hughes after all-indeed, maybe they should go listen and learn from Dion as well!
Him signing on for another year would be BRILLIANT, but I don't think it wil happen.
