regarding second albums

It's been a tough one for years now. Typically a band spends years sculpting a sound and style and perfecting an album (or set list) worth of songs, become succesful then a record label trys to get a second album out of them within a year sometimes written in a few weeks whilst on tour. Surprise surprise it's crap. Obviously there is always exceptions like Going from from one of the greatest debuts of all time (The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses) then taking 5 years and releasing a pile of utter gob s**te (The second coming)
