Yes, you could argue that it had end of season performance written all over it and Southampton did have a lot more to play for than us. Having said that, I felt there was a lot of effort demostrated by our players, just not a lot of quality.

Playing Hucks on the right is never a good move - He is just not comfortable there. Southampton are reported to have spent £8m on players this season and it certainly showed out there on the pitch. They weren't great but looked comfortable enough.

After next week's match away at Sheff Wed thoughts will turn to the close season and what will happen regarding transfer both in and out. I know he has only been here a short time but I think what Grant does in the transfer market this summer may well define his time here. If, come August, all he has got to show for his efforts is a couple of £50K players and a free transfer, we will be confined to fighting it out in the nether regions of this league once again.

For their part, I hope the Board has noted the fate of Leeds and out own brief flirtation with the bottom three. The complacency demonstrated last summer cannot be allowed to be repeated.
