The most annoying thing about our finance is how we f**ked up the "quality vs wages"

When we went down, Doncaster told us not to worry about the finances, because clever old prudent Norwich had got a deal which means that all the high wages get cut. And we all know that high wages are a disaster, don't we children? Look at Ipswich! But don't worry - we don't have to have any high wages!

So you think - oh well, the wage cuts explain why all our prem first team has been sold (cos they don't like having their wages cut). And the new prudent wage system explains why we are replacing the departing players with a load of old cack: we aren't paying high wages any more. There we are.

Then f**k my old boots - 18 months on, it turns out that the board agreed to allow Nigel to sign the new players on really high wages! Just as high, in fact, as the wages of the people we got rid of because their wages were so high! And so the bunch of journeymen we've brought in to replace the players whose wages were so high that they might cripple our finances have bene paid such high wages that they have - wait for it - crippled our finances! Brilliant!
