Labour under Callaghan-"Winter of discontent", rubbish left on streets for weeks, the dead not being buried, workers fighting each other, strike after strike after strike, too much Union power and influence....
Conservatives under Thatcher/Major- "Poll Tax", economic meltdown, as you say-mind you, followed by economic recovery which Blair and co inherited; selling off of public sector (wrong wrong WRONG!), lack of support and investment for manufacturing industries....
New Labour under Blair-Fighting needless wars, Council Tax (continues to rise, more and more people imprisoned, why there haven't been riots against this, I can't quite understand!), education and law and order falling apart, armed forces stripped of investment and numbers, John Prescott....
Yet all had their good points I suppose?
I think a lot of the problems in this country go way, way beyond party politics/policies and who did what, and who is going to do what etc etc-and that things will not change, no matter what the Government, at least, in its present format, Labour, Tory, whatever...
