... He worries me sometimes, his passion and honesty too often cross the line into counter-productive rants, and there are, I accept, shades of 97/8 when he talked a good game off the pitch but was part of a dreadful side on it.
But the man has nothing to work with, and is dealing with the consequences of absolutely shocking mismanagement, both by his predecessor and especially by the board. It's ridiculous to hold him responsible in any way for that. Sorry, but this mess will take years to sort out, and there's even a likelihood of next season being worse than this one: look at how many years Derby struggled for, or at how Coventry or Leicester still can't seem to get it together.
We have to give him the time to build his own squad, get rid of the deadwood, and sort out the many problems in the dressing room - and unless we go down, I stick by what I said when he was appointed: he has until Christmas 2008 (yes, you read that right) to show we are making clear progress. And no, that doesn't make me a head in the sand apologist for little 'ole Norwich: quite the reverse. Given so many posters plainly accept the extent of the shambles we've become, it stands to reason that it will take considerable time for Grant to wade through the s**t and begin to haul us out again.
