It wouldnt surprise me

If deals were already pretty much done, but we're leaving it til as late as possible (without jeopardizing the deal) to try get the price down as much as possible.

Either that, or we are well and truely f**ked and will have to sign a few 'C' list players for stupid prices within hours of the window closing.

Then for the following week read on the pink'un our club saying how deals for 3 'top' premiership stars was done until the player decided against the move.
