that the club has not made any signings in the last two weeks, other than a loan (our third loan 'keeper of the season!) and actually I am utterly unconvinced by all the rubbish talked about phone calls being made at all hours, clubs not wanting to let people go until they have replacements etc.
Something is badly wrong when it comes to Norwich City and transfers. In recent years our club has become something of a joke in the transfer market, I'm afraid. Just examine what we have done since the permanent signing of Huckerby and it is very depressing.
Now presumably it's quite a small world out there among the money-grabbing agents and the word gets around...you don't want your players to go to Norwich, they've been paying far too much for too long to a bunch of no-hopers and now they've got a manager who isn't prepared or (perhaps more to the point) isn't backed by the board to pay decent signing-on fees, wages etc. Less money to the players = less to the agents
But if all the excuses being trotted out of Carrow road are to be believed how come everybody else is signing people? We are fast becoming a laughing stock when it comes to transfers and I, for one, am strongly of the opinion that if we don't pull off something really significant in the next few days we will go down. the club has never needed a lift this much since Hamilton's days.
Also I am puzzled as to why Grant made those statements about wanting to do business early in the window rather than late. They now look ridiculous. either he was incredibly naive or he was under the impression the board would back him and they haven't.
The bottom line is that our truly dreadful team with truly dreadful coaches (Livermore take a bow) now appears to be backed by a truly dreadful staff when it comes to off-field negotiations. Our new manager still hasn't had a chance to show what he can do and our nice little club with its lovely, smart ground and its pretty yellow shirts is an absolute shambles.
