all a long time ago. But my menory is that we were spending money - on things like land - and paying for it by selling players. On Chase's (horribly mistaken) assumption that even after selling our best players, we'd still be good enough to stay up. And the investments would pay for themselves in due course.

Instead, we went down with a crap team and illiquid investments, and therefore no money to improve things.

This all may be bollox however.
