Gary O’Neil is a s**t manager who was s**t this season and will make is s**t too

If he’s appointed.

Is something that I don’t really believe.

Wolves first 9 fixtures this season consisted of the current top 7 in the Premier League, plus Brentford and Brighton away. He got 2 points from that sequence of games, but my recollection is that they almost certainly deserved more and they were a bit unlucky. But the early season trouble they got themselves in was primary because they got truly rogered by the fixture computer.

He then got 7 pts from Fulham/Southampton/Palace before losing 4-2 to Bournemouth.

The three poor results that finally did for him were defeats against Everton (got stuffed, v poor), West Ham (very narrow defeat) and Ipswich (jammy 93rd min winner). By that stage the pressure was well and truly on and things weren’t going great. But I think he’s a much more successful manager than you might think from just eyeballing how many points he got this season.

I’m not, like, mad keen on him getting the gig, or his number one fan. But if we do end up with him, I don’t agree with the idea that this means we’ve appointed a total dud.
