Knapper has explained the logic: User Posted Link
"Knapper, who made the decision to carry just two strikers for the remainder of the Championship campaign, defended that judgment call and is content with the options available to City's boss.
Ante (Crnac) is a nine, that's his core position - he can play in other positions as well, off the right, or even as a second striker but we feel good that we've got two really high-quality 'nine' options," Knapper told BBC Radio Norfolk.
We feel really good that we've got two real high-quality nine options. Then after that, we've got quite a few options that can play as a third striker.
From a squad composition perspective, we wouldn't want to be in a position where we're carrying three top expensive nines, it's not a smart use of resource and it's difficult to manage that situation as they're all going to want to play.
When we play with a with a single striker system, it could also create challenges. So we're really happy with what we've got."
You can disagree with the strategy but the club have been very clear about what is going on. Sarge has been played wide a lot before he became the first choice 9. So have lots of other strikers. A certain Thiery Henry springs to mind. That is a pretty basic football reality.
