But I would be in favour. I would do it (although at 40 I suspect I'm not the target demographic) and would be proud if my children did it.

The fact of the matter is peace is not guaranteed anymore and I think better preparation is needed (as well as thinking a nation of trained individuals is a better deterrent than a nation without such training).
