Neil Townsend was a CB signed, on a month's loan, from Southend Utd, on July 14 1978. He played for us in Willhire & Anglo Scottish cups and then returned to Southend. A few days later Bond signed Phil Hoadley.

Townsend later played for Bournemouth.
