A friend of mine's daughter is a Syrian citizen

Born here, married him, moved there; they both fled after he was put under a lot of pressure to join Assad's mob and he didn't want to, not least because he had a newborn.

Their view is they're glad Assad has gone but will wait and see what follows before thinking about going back. It's the kind of decision you only get wrong once.
