Two excellent interviews with MA, and a really nice new direction with the comms.
Much love to Delia and Michael, but their approach to external comms over their final stretch was very much "you arseholes are trying to catch us out and make us look bad. We're going to stonewall in response to everything you say. Were going to make it very clear that your questions are not welcome, and that we think your questions are dishonest and rude.". I felt this was very very unfair on the local journalists, who were just trying to do their job. And it just helped widen the rift created by Webber with his comms (i.e. that the fans and local journalists were all utterly ungrateful ignorant bastards). It was a really bad approach.
In contrast MA looked at ease. He made it clear that he knows what he's doing, there is a clear plan, and he knows what he will do and what he wont. He took all the questions with good grace, he answered openly, and he's clearly across a lot of detail. He was also able to stand behind the recent run of bad form, and not come across as defensive. He was balanced and measured and felt no need to become defensive at all.
All very encouraging.
