As an OAP......

I'm not required to fil in a self-assessment form despite receiving more than the tax free allowance. All of my income is treated the same as it was when I was working with the TFA offset against income up to the relevant level and then tax deducted at source on the balance. I probably would have to do one if I was receiving income that wasnt taxed at source eg investment fund or rental income - but that doesnt apply for me. And absolutely sure the Inland Revenue couldnt cope with the volume of self assessments if all OAPs like me had to complete one each year.
