Some thoughts on my my first live game for a year or so.
An exciting game. Didn't feel the despondency that a 4-0 defeat would normally bring. We played some good stuff but the gulf in class was evident. As soon as that Palace team sheet came out with half of the England Euros squad in it, we were going to struggle.
Incredible support. The whole 90 minutes. Palace crowd offered absolutely nothing. And I heard no negativity at any point, perhaps apart from a couple of times when Long and Hanley went all tiki taka with Mateta lurking!
Players:
Oscar, very, very promising (work needed on the free kick)
Fisher, really flung himself into it. Proper 110% performance.
Doyle, he's a unit isn't he? You get clattered by him you'll know it.
The best bit? My son who's now 18 came with me for the first time since he was 9. I've played the long game with him as he's never really been very sporty but he was there, willingly and in one of my spare shirts singing along to OTBC talking about the next trip. I've got him!
