Horrible at the back, slow, lumbering, unable to pass. Ditto midfield, aside from Forson. Up front we looked dog s**t too. Sarge looks a shadow - clearly miles off full fitness, can only hope at some point he actually gets time to recover from whatever the problem is. Sainz lacked pace/creativity, but I’m prepared to cut him some slack given what he was surrounded by. Fassnacht…waste of skin. You know you’re in trouble when Idah comes on and looks our best attacking player.
And we had tactical problems all over the place, not least being too narrow and our FBs being constantly exposed. And I thought we were supposed to be playing a style where we would dominate the ball and press with energy? We did neither. In fact we did the exact opposite.
Honestly, it was so f**king bad. I know, one game, time needed etc. I’m trying not to be all f**k off Selwyn about it. But at the same time, we’ve got to call a spade a spade no? Any point in pretending otherwise?
My worry is that we’re looking so calamitous at the moment that it might be hard to build anything. Good players will surely be more inclined to look for the exit. Players looking for a step up won’t see us as that. Atmosphere will turn toxic and crowd may turn on JHT and Knapper and the board.
You’ve got to have something to cling on to, even if all it is is a vision for the future. What the f**k do we have out of yesdee? Forson? I’m even getting the sense that building with youth is not going to happen, as the youth players we’ve got are just not good enough.
