Why is any of this a surprise?

1) The departure of senior pros has left the squad weaker
2) Recruitment is not yet finished
3) Despite the hype surrounding Knapper he is no different from most other SDs
4) Despite the hype surrounding JHT there is no evidence that he can be a success in English football
5) Such was the disenchantment last season that almost any baby steps in the right direction will be conflated into giant strides.

I mean, a 'proper' writer was predicting that JHT was an improvement on Smith & Wagner just because he shouted "quality" a lot at Colney. The straws being clutched are hooooooooooooooooooge
