Oh hang on, think I might have just proven God exists and dabbles in football tournament results:

Argentina - WC 2022
Italy - Euro 2020(1), WC 2006
France - WC 2018, WC 1998, Euro 2000
Portugal - Euro 2016
Spain - Euro 2012, World Cup 2010, Euro 2008
Brazil - World Cup 2002

It's only Germany (WC 2014) and Greece (Euro 2004) where God must have been on holiday.

That, or almost all countries that are any good at football are catholic....
