How do they know things like that?

I'm not doubting it, just curious how that can be extracted from the data.

Thinking about it though, I'd expect those kind of stats to be relatively common generally.

I doubt there are that many people that switch between voting for labour and conservative, so makes sense that the vote base for labour would stay similar, while minority parties sweep up the disaffected voters that might otherwise have voted, in this case, conservative.

No idea if that's supported by historic facts.
