is not an easy number to assimilate or cater for practically - that's a simple fact I think - of course, it's strongly related to other problems, such as declining birth rate and post covid "economic inactivity" and illness, so it's not simple to solve - but if the headline figures are not managed in some way (and they were coming down anyway, which starmer will take credit for) then I'm pretty certain it will do for the labour party. It's quite interesting that one of the few quite left wing governments in europe - Denmark - also has a consensus on a pretty hardline approach to immigration
