All that happened

Was that conservatives were pissed off with the conservatives for not being actually conservative (and for being generally incompetent) and didn't vote for them. Labour vote seems to have held or gone down. If Labour fails to deal with the things that have pissed off conservatives, they'll go exactly the same way in 5 years time.
