because a huge proportion of the population will have been deprived of any meaningful voice in parliament - maybe (if he has any sense) starmer will govern with those people in mind; if he doesn't (and the beady eyed fury zealots of the left won't him to, and I really have no idea which incarnation of starmer we'll see) then things will go very badly wrong for him and possibly everyone else; he's come to power on a wave of indifference, with a huge majority, but nothing much of a mandate, other than the usual blather about "change" - all things to all men is a recipe for betrayal, not peace
