Controlling the midfield is not about just telling them to dominate. Its selecting a team and playing in a manner that allows you to keep the ball and thus control the tempo of the game. And of course the opposition have an impact too but too often, England don't have the right players/balance in there.

TAA is a good player but he plays a high intensity Liverpool style game where he's looking for the ball over the top all the time. It doesn't really suit a team with Kane and Foden as 2 of the 3 most advanced players.
