Managers don't have a tendency of giving away their best players

There is clearly more going on that we know about.

Wagner called him back when he first arrived and he didn't pull up any trees. That was after a fairly mediocre spell in the Netherlands.

He also had a chance to prove himself pre-season.

For whatever reason he just hasn't fitted in at Norwich. Whether that is down to the player or the club we just don't know.
