They won't. We had all this with Lambert. My prediction is this:

McKenna linked with every big job under the sun. As they fill those with foreign managers (nobody trusts a UK boss these days), he starts getting linked with the B-list jobs. They also don't appoint him as the compo is too high and he's not too happy to risk it when he's onto a good thing at Ipswich.

And then, when Ipswich are struggling in the bottom three, he will get a panic offer from a lower mid table club and take it. That will of course end badly, and he will bounce around a few clubs like that for a while before getting fat and bitter and ending up back at Ipswich before getting sacked again. He will then spend the rest of his career moaning on TalkSport about how unfairly he was treated, and reminding everybody that he once captained Northern Ireland’s under-19s side at a the U19 Euros.
